About myself & question about generic Finasteride (thank you)
I first like to get to the question, my story is below. Thank you in advance.
Why is generic Finasteride (Actavis brand) so cheap? I got it from Costco pharmacy for a little over $30. It comes with 100 tablets (5 mg). I know to cut it in to 4 pieces, and take one 1.25 mg a day.
My hair transplant doctor told me it would be $70 from Costco. Not that I am complaining, I'm just a little skeptical.
For those who take generic Finasteride, please share your experiences. Thank you.
MY STORY:
My hair is thinning. But to many people, they don't really notice it...but I do. First attempt ever (about 10 years ago) was with Propecia. Went off it. And went on Minoxidil and have been on since. And today, I exercise, eat healthy, and take LOADS of vitamins and supplements--including all hair supplements such as Biotin, MSM, Silica, Shou Wu, etc.
*Recently, half a year ago, I had my hair transplant (HT) on the temples. And looking fine today, just wish it could be a bit denser, but I'm happy. (I was back on Minoxidil 2 weeks after the transplant.)
I know it's going to still be a fight, because I still notice my hair is shedding a bit (in the frontal area) after each wash. Now, I am also on generic Finasteride...possibly forever.
Thanks for reading my story.

Costco can charge such a low price because they're not investing anything in R&D. The product should be fine- the price has just gone down over time, maybe partially because the Propecia patent is about to run out. Best of luck with the finasteride and retaining your existing hair!

I used propecia since 1999, $65/month supply, than 1 year ago just discovered Finastaside, I buy it forom Walgreens for $12/month supply. Its just not name brand so its cheaper. I was told they make you cut the tiny pills in quarters to make it more difficult to work with the cheaper generic product. Go figure.
I have never experienced any sexual side effects whatsoever.
