Dumb question but....
I gotta ask this dumb question. It's been about 6 weeks now after the hair transplant. Sometimes my head has a itch here and there in the recipient area. I'm afraid to scratch the itch or even in the shower afraid to put much pressure on the recipient area still. This is cause I'm afraid I might scratch out or take out the transplanted hair graft if I scratch my head. Is it possible to scratch out a hair graft?

Do not worry. Can't hurt the grafts at this point. Try some Nizoral shampoo to help fight the itching.

By the end of the second week post-surgery, all grafts should be firmly in place and cannot be dislodged so- to echo Dr. Charles- you don't need to worry at this point.

Cphan,
The itching is completely normal and will eventually subside. It is one of the side-effects of wound healing and with so many recipient incisions involved, I am surprised that we do not hear more of this feedback from people post-operatively.
Some topical products like Nizoral that Dr. Charles mentioned is a scalp cleanser and invigorator and certainly can help. There are other shampoo based products that may help you with this and ultimately your doctor or a derm can recommend something else if the itching does not subside.
Best wishes to you as you await the regrowth!
