Becoming a philosophy Ph.D. is a lengthy journey. Some candidates finish in five years, others finish in 10-12 years or more. The average time to become a philosophy Ph.D. is about 5 years assuming a student was initially in part-time registration and receiving benefits without having to submit financial documents such as tax returns, living expense reports, etc.
