Default Am I Going Bald? (I'm sure you get this here all the time, but please read!!)

Hey guys, so I'm trying to figure out whether I'm going bald or not. I'm 20 years old, and I have pretty thick hair, but I tend to be a hypochondriac and lately I've been fingering my part and trying to figure out if it's always looked like this, and if it looks normal and etc.

Can I have some help from the experts?

The following four pictures were taken this morning with my computer, before I showered or got out of bed. My hair is a little frazzled which might be responsible for odd partings.

From the front: (this picture was taken a couple of nights from a skype conversation. I don't THINK i see any signs of receding)

    Signs on my side:
. My father has a full head of hair
. My mother's hair is very, very thick
. MY hair is extremely thick. Almost every time I get my hair cut (many times by a new barber), they each randomly comment on how thick my hair is, and on how much hair I have. The barber I've had longest said she doesn't think I'm going to go bald, but that was about a year ago.
. I have a Widow's Peak (I read somewhere this is a good sign? I don't know, it sounds fishy to me)

    Signs against me:
. My mother's grandfather AND brother are bald (but they don't have a widow's peak, which my mother does. I hope this suggests that I have my mother's thick hair, rather than theirs. Apparently both of them started going bald even before 20).
. My father's father is bald

Am I just worrying myself sick? Does my part look normal?

That being said, if I AM going bald, what tests can I do to make sure? And what steps can I make to prevent losing as much hair as possible?

Thank you for putting time into your responses!

    -Max

Its hard to tell really.......it may be normal or the very start of balding.
I would do nothing. Just keep an eye on it over the next year (monthly, not hourly!)........and if your crown gets larger then consider medications.
Overall, its very hard to tell so i wouldnt unnecessarily take some hairloss medications now........because you may not need them.

You look good still, I would just watch things closely for a while before you do anything. You can also go to a hair loss specialist and get checked for early hair follicle miniaturization to just be sure. I think most of the IAHRS (www.iahrs.org) doctors do that. If I were you I would not be too concerned, your hair looks perfectly normal at this point.

so wild that your bro is bald and not you. very lucky my friend, im really not an expert at all but from the pics you look good from here, i would get your hair wet though and take them closer, just cause with this thing i feel the only way to do it is be completely blunt and truthful.

Best of luck with everything man,
and worst case scenario theres so much more to life then hair

you need to wash your hair. those looks like parts where your hair was pushed down by something.
It also just appears to be red.
The hair grows straight up around the cowlick at the back of your head, it is normal to see through to the scalp there.

Testaccnt99, Hi and welcome to this forum!

KO1 and the others have given you good responses.
I would also say that your hair still looks good-very thick.
Testaccnt99 you might ONLY experience a maturing of your hair and thats it.
Of course you could also experience a percentage of hairloss but it is not something that you should focus too much on.
You do NOT want to develop STRESS over that .
Stress more than likely would cause hair loss!

Like KO1 has said to you, "...you have effective meds to treat this, so do not worry"

    That is very TRUE.
    No worries my friend.
Again, your hair line looks GOOD.
