Unhappy Thinking of FUT - any good surgeons in London?

    Hi Guys
I'm new here and i've been reading all your stories all night! i'm hooked. I'm seriously considering surgery now, my hair loss is ridiculous and its rather depressing. There must be some excellent surgeons in London, could you recommend any?

Also, i've attached pictures of the bald head, having read all the stories, it sounds like i'm going to need at least 6000 grafts over about 3 treatments. Does that sound about right?

Any hints would be really gratefully received.

You would think that there would be a lot of excellent surgeons in London but I'm afraid the only really reputable one I've heard of is Dr. Farjo in Manchester. He is one of the best in the world, however, and I believe he does consultations in London.

I don't know of any recommended London surgeons either. I will say though, that you should aim to find a surgeon who can provide a 6000 graft procedure in no more that two ops. This does depend on your donor characteristics, scalp laxity, etc (as does obtaining the 6000 grafts to begin with) but there's generally no need to have three surgeries for that number of grafts.

Thanks for the advice guys - Manchester isn't too far away for something this important, I'll give him a go. I think this is the guy that Dragon Duncan Bannatyne swears by. I have to be honest though, the scars from the donor area do really bother me.

If you really want to avoid the linear strip scar, you should look into the FUE technique. However, it's important to understand that no surgery is guaranteed scarless; even with FUE, it is possible you will develop some white dotting where the FUs were extracted.

I would suggest that you submit your photos and information to a handful of clinics to see what various physicians recommend. This will give you a better idea as to whether you are a good candidate for a transplant, and also give you an idea of cost and what method is best for you.

Default 4 Month waiting list just for consultation - HELP!

I decided that i'm definitely going for hair transplant surgery and tried to book in at Farjo in Manchester only to find out there's a 4 month wait just for a consultation. I really want to do this in January, surely there must be other surgeons with great reputations in England somewhere. If anyone could recommend any, possibly London based, i'd be very grateful

    thanks

Hi Prodigy, You shouldn't rush into these things and distance should not be a factor in your decision, are you sure they said 4 months for a consultation I would imagine this would be for surgery. A popular clinic will be booked up months in advance this is a good sign imo.
