        crazy

i really think you guys should try to grasp the concept that propecia is a very very strong medicine that will alter who you "are" - its going to decrease your DHT levels and increase your estrogen levels. thats a fact. what is that going to do to you? who knows... yeah, you may keep your hair (most women don't go through male pattern baldness, right?) but it will do other things that may not happen to men who do not have elevated estrogen levels and decreased DHT. these things are insidious, most of them are not even known by the medical and scientific community, and you may not even be aware of it until you start crying at chick-flicks and admiring purses at the gap.... i apologize for frightening you, but i would encourage you to think of propecia as fundamentally altering your 'sexual designation'; if you take if for long enough, your hormonal profile will sort of become that of a nebulous non-male, non-female designation, and thats no hyperbole. this ain't no vitamin for hair, people. those doctors who are telling you to 'go for it' are just not educated about what this medicine really does. i'm all for hair preservation, but the science is just not there yet without really mucking with "you" and your identity as a man. your mom who tells you that she can see your scalp should really realize how much damage she is doing to you, i know -- i went through the same crap. don't let these people and their stupid insensitive remarks push you into taking a medicine that will really, really mess with your system. its not worth it. think jason statham. it'll be ok.

wow everyone is talking like propecia is a deadly drug. If you care about your hairloss take the dam drug!!!
I'm thinking surgery the next step for me. If you won't take a pill then you will never go under surgery which is a lot scarier. Its a question of if you wanna fight hairloss or just shave your head....

Sadly i think you are right Notbaldyet, i don't think my Dr is clued up about Fin, he was flippant and casual in his 'go for it' stance.

Strikes me that everyone on here that advises i take it is in the lucky category - none or little sides. And the unlucky ones are now posting on Propeciahelp.

Big decision, i certainly don't view Fin as a vitamin, and have been reading all the pros and cons. The Jason Statham look suits him fine, but id hate it. Then again id hate a possible fkd up hormonal balance too.

I'd love to come to the rescue here and tell you propecia is effective. I started taking it about 5 months ago to preserve a moderately receded hairline from getting worse. I haven't noticed much up top yet, nor should I at only 5 months, but the hair on the sides of my head, above and in front of my ears has THINNED MASSIVELY. It's transparent now, and soon I fear I will be bald there. I used to have beautiful hair that fell over my ears when it got long, now it is just whisps of crap. I took it to help things, and it RUINED one of the few good features I had left about my hair. I'm supposed to just sit here I guess and believe that this is coincidental timing of DUPA, and me starting finasteride. That I know is bullcrap. I was the most optimistic person about propecia before I took it. I wasn't worried one bit. I still remain optimistic, but the changes in my hair are not my imagination, they are real. I can only pray now it goes back to the way it was as there is no way I'm quitting the very drug I've put every ounce of faith in anytime soon. Please keep in mind the hair on the top of my head has not changed at all, propecia did not cause me to lose hair in MPB areas.

I would also like anyone reading this to know that I lift weights, and propecia has is no way negatively impacted my results in the gym. I have a very muscular physique and I feel if it had a large impact on my testosterone I would have noticed as I've been weight training for many years.

Hi. I actually believe there are risks on taking this drug...though I believe as well there were some persons successfull on FIN. If this is not a feasible long term solution, then what? I mean how can we now combat MPB if the only drug we are believing to help us is now considered dangerous.

Believing on FIN makes me feel hopeful for my hair..But understanding the risks makes me feel so helpless....

For those on Propeciahelp.com it certainly is not.

Boots the chemist here in the UK do a 'hair retention program' they prescribe fin.
I had a consultation recently. And the consultant told me as a high street pharmacy, they couldn't possibly knowingly prescribe this to men if they knew it was causing drastic sides.
She told me fifty men are signed up, they come and go, but on the whole they are happy with the results.
Just makes me wonder if it's so bad? But Propeciahelp.com keeps putting me off.

All i got to say is if you value your peace of mind, you will avoid that site at all costs. Unless you have bad sides I wouldn't go there. The hypochondriac in all of us is enough to drive you to suicide reading in that website.

And if you've read there before starting propecia, well then, chances are you will convince yourself you have every side effect there is.

we all had the same experiences....doctors kept on recommending the drug and justifying many are using it successfully....there's only one way to find out....

I'm on the same boat as you guys, I am at the point where I have to decide whether or not to start using propecia. I wish I could just ask god to give me a lower hair line and make it super thick for the rest of my life. I would be such a happy person.

I've stressed about it so much now that I am about to forget about it. Thinking about my hairline is causing me so much pain.

Keep me updated you guys, and tell me if you guys go on it or not. I'm close to making a decision.

I started Propecia 16 days ago and noticed that I haven't woken up with morning glory since then (which is very strange). So I didn't use it for 2 days because I had a big date. Managed to have plenty of sex so I started it again yesterday.
