    Topical Finasteride 0.025% bloodwork

Long story short, my surgeon wants me on low dose oral finasteride (2mg a week or 0.25mg EOD). I have had bad side effects in the past with oral finasteride at 0.5mg EOD and Topical Finasteride at 0.1% so I know I am sensitive to the drug including Gyno, loss of libido, anxiety, insomnia and prostate pain.

He agreed to let me try a low dose Topical Finasteride 0.025% that according research and the clinic only reduces 25% of serum DHT while reducing 50% to 60% of scalp DHT on their patients. (https://fueclinic.com/services/treat...asteride-0-025).

I will take baseline DHT blood test and repeat at 2 weeks, 1 month and 2 months. Free testosterone, total testosterone and E2 will also be measured and report on perceived side effects.

I will be dosing 1ML on Monday's and Thursdays for the duration of my trial. If DHT is suppressed above 50% I will be stopping the medication.

Mustang2 I hope you will see this message and will respond. I saw your posts regarding use of Topical Dutatesteride. I understand you lowered your dosage from 1% to 0.1%. Did you stop using it completely or will keep using it together with oral finasteride? If you stopped, was it because it of the side effects or because it wasn't effective?

Your original post was strongly for topical use. I am trying to understand if you became disappointed or if it was wishful thinking.

    Thank you!

I wanted to respond earlier. Can you please elaborate, if 0.1 works great, why were you recommended oral Finasteride? If you already started with topical 0.025% concentration, are the side effects of taking both better than when you were on a higher dose of Dutasteride?
