    Default Should I be concerned?

I had a transplant back in late may so I'm almost at 6 months. I've had a couple transplants from Pomerantz who uses the punch graft method but my latest surgery was not from him.

In m y last procedure I had hair put in all along the hairline with an emphasis at the very front - this new hair was placed in the same areas Dr Pom. worked on. There was one area I had grafts placed in which the skin was virgin - never had any previous work done - that was the point where the temple points meet the hairline, I had a sharp corner there but needed it to have a softer curve.

My question is this: the hair placed in the virgin skin never fell out and began to grow within a month or two but the grafts placed everywhere else fell out( as is expected) but now that it's been almost 6 mos, should I see hair sprouting in those "non-virgin" areas yet?

Most patients begin to see some growth at around the 3 month mark but it can be different for everyone. It's certainly possible that there has been growth in the 'non-virgin areas' but that it is less noticeable since there was some preexisting density there prior to the latest transplant. The more procedures you have, the less cosmetic impact each subsequent procedure will make (adding 50 grafts to an area that already has some density will not be as noticeable as adding 50 to a completely bald area).

However, I don't think you should be concerned at this point. Give it another 3 to 6 months and if you still do not see significant results, you should certainly schedule a follow-up with your physician to express your concerns.
