I spoke to Dr. Hitzig personally and it turns out he is doing injections as a standalone hair loss treatment. It's basically PRP with Acell and he said that, while it is too early to say definitively, the result with Acell is "10 times" that of PRP alone. The downside is that it is quite expensive - about $3,000 compared to about $1,000 for PRP. I am cautiously optimistic.

wow, that is expensive. did he mention if he expects the results to be permanent?

He said that after 8 months of doing the injections, they did not have to re-inject anyone. I don't think anything, even the potentially ground-breaking treatments like Histogen are meant to be permanent. The only permanent solution will likely be some kind of gene therapy that reverse the MPB gene.
