HT 1500+ graphs Dr Glenn Charles on 10/29/10

Hey guys I am new to this forum and wanted to share my story and experience with my recent procedure with Dr. Charles. A little background about myself, I am 23 years old and had a vast amount of thinning on my right temple area which extended to the middle of my head. There was not much left to the right hairline, although the left side has kept in tact very well. I have been on finasteride + minox for a little over 2 years now and decided to have a procedure to fix the hairline and the area that extended in the middle of my head. Dr. Charles did the procedure yesterday and now its the waiting game.

First off i want to say that i was very reluctant to have a HT for a long time. I knew i needed one eventually, but like most people i was scared of the procedure and everything associated with it. I did research that led me down some bad paths, and then I came across Dr. Charles and I must say his reputation does precede himself. Dr Charles was awesome, no other words can describe it. He is a very nice guy, funny, and makes you feel at ease. There have been a few doctors who looked at me, and my age and made me feel like "why did i even go there" after i met with them. Dr. Charles saw my loss and that i have been doing the right things to prevent my loss, and the only other option was a HT. He is very caring to your needs and wants you to feel as comfortable as you can in making this decision. I could call him on his cell whenever i wanted prior to the HT and he always answered my questions. I had a long drive back after the surgery and he wanted me to call him when i got home. That was very appreciated. He actually cares about his patients and is not some doctor that does the HT and is done with you.

The staff was very nice and friendly, and the facilities were top notch. lunch was provided for me and that was very nice considering i was there most of the day. For someone considering Dr. Charles i would say you are making a wise choice. Of course i am still waiting the results, but i am very pleased with what has happened thus far. For people still weary of the surgery, i can tell you, i hate the fact of getting any kind of procedure done, and this was pretty easy. You sit down, get numbed up, and then Dr. Charles and his staff do the procedure. The only pain i felt was from getting numbed and after that there is no pain. I could feel some irritation on my head during the procedure but it was minor. I just sat there and watched sportscenter the whole time which Dr Charles is a sports guy so it was nice to chat with him about that during the procedure to keep me at ease. After the procedure there was minor irritation, and a little pain in the donor are after the lidocane wore off. Sleeping last night was a little hard to do and there was a little bleeding in the donor area, but all common and today there is no bleeding and very minor pain.

Now i am just following the post op directions Dr Charles gave me and waiting this out. i have to say i am overall pleased so far with the procedure and Dr. Charles and i am glad i had this procedure with him. I will post some photos soon as soon as i can acquire them from Dr. Charles, or he can post them on here if he wishes as well. I will be tracking these results and posting pics in the months to come, but if anyone has any questions/ inquiries please let me know!

Framing the face is the main effect that an appropriate hairline creates, but excessive density can draw too much attention and look unnatural. For a natural look, hairlines should always appear soft and therefore Dr. Charles would have strategically placed single-hair grafts along your hairline with this in mind. I think you will definitely see a nice improvement in your hairline as it grows in- but thankfully not at the cost of it looking like you had a transplant.

          rvlaw,

Very true in that only single hair grafts adequately or should I say "naturally" spaced in the hairline area are critical. Now having said that, the level of density can be adjusted to the uniqueness of each individual providing it does not detract away from that ever so important natural appearance for you!

I have two suggestions for you. First, go ahead and call Dr. Charles and ask him for his feedback. Second, once your procedure grows out and matures, ask yourself at that point, do I want to add? You may not want to. If you do, you can always go back for more.

Congrats on your procedure rvlaw, and the best is yet to come, the regrowth!
