Are my expectations unrealistic? 1 year post-op results (2000 graft FUT) - So Cal
Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I'm really not sure how I should move forward. I finally had a transplant procedure June 14, 2019. I had 2000 grafts (FUT - strip method).
Prior to my procedure, I had met with at least 4 doctors (in person) and at least 2 others via email/facetime. I first noticed hair loss at age 30, and started talking to doctors when I was 31-32; I had my procedure when I was 34. During this time, my hairline was certainly thinning, but I could easily style my hair to completely hide it. My goal was just to get my hairline back. Most doctors agreed on 1000 to 2000 grafts, and their costs were $5 to $10k.
I finally chose a doctor in Orange County, California, not because of cost, but because I had read good reviews on various forums, and had the best experience when talking with him.
In April (10 months after surgery) I expressed concern about my results, but the doctor just said to wait until month 12. Now that I am at the 12 month mark, the doctor is telling me that I need another procedure for density. The only option offered at this point is a 'discount' if I go with another procedure.
Unfortunately, this procedure was a MAJOR expense for me. While I know I will keep losing hair and need additional procedures in the future, I was at least expecting a solid hairline that I wouldn't have to hide.
Since this all began, I switched phones (from apple to android), so I'm having a hard time finding before pictures. Honestly, based on how I combed my hair, nobody would have suspected any hair loss. I assumed that 2000 grafts was more than enough to get my hairline back to a 'new normal'.
Thoughts? I'm afraid to reveal the doctor's name yet.. They have responded to my concerns, but apparently I had different expectations for my outcome.
Thank you in advance!
The pictures attached here are from after the surgery, followed by April 2020, and then June 2020.

From my POV it looks good! I do not think you had a bad outcome at all.
