Finasteride dosage

I started finasteride 3 weeks ago every other day. So far I have had no negative side effects. In fact I have noticed that my sex drive has increased massively which is unexpected.

My question is taking it EOD sufficient or do I need to take it everyday? Also can I expect to see any regrowth or just maintenance?

From research I've learned that hair doctors generally believe that 1mg every other day is fine, with some actually starting patients on this dose/frequency & seeing how things go. In some countries (I think Japan & maybe others) they even use 0.25mg a day, as studies have shown the DHT block effectiveness between 0.25mg per day compared to 1mg per day is actually not huge - there's plenty of info online about these studies.

Regrowth does happen for some users, but it's definitely not a given. Best to go into it with maintenance as the aim - if regrowth occurs, great bonus. Could always add in Minoxidil further down the line if regrowth is still wanted.

I started on 1mg Finasteride a day but noticed a significant drop in my libido almost immediately - within 2 days or so.
I continued this dose for a while but it didn't subside (maybe it would eventually, maybe not). In any case, I bought a pill cutter & then started taking 0.5mg a day. My libido almost immediately returned to normal and has been fine ever since. You could maybe try 1mg per day just to see how you react, as for me there was a definite side effect difference between 0.5mg and 1mg - though apparently very negligible difference with how much DHT is blocked between the two doses according to studies.
