Default Steady loss of 150-200 a day

started noticing my hair loss around 24 (am almost 27 now). I would say I was a 2 on the Norwood scale but had been noticing what I thought was a lot of hair loss in the shower especially. My treatment includes minoxidil 5% 2x daily for 15 months. LLLT treatment daily for 15 months. Finasteride 1mg 5 months. Various hair vitamins for 15 months. I also recently have began dermarolling my hairline. Through all of this, and even still I find myself shedding around 150-200 hairs a day (that I can actually see) - just this morning I lost 80 over the bathroom sink while brushing/styling my hair. Everywhere I look says that is too much hair to lose, yet my head still remains thick. Even my hairline appears thicker than it was when I first began treatments.

Is it crazy to assume that amount of daily hair loss is normal for me even though there is practically nothing to back that up online?

Both finasteride and minoxidil have shedding phases. It is possible that your shedding phases on either or both is taking place now rather than earlier as it does with most users. Instead of counting hairs, try taking three pictures of your hair every three months in a well lit room: hairline, middle parting and crown. This will show you whether you are stabilising, losing hair or regrowing.

I’d try to stop counting hairs you are shedding because this may just create anxiety and stress which as we know can impede hair growth. After all, as long as you’re regrowing more hair than you’re shedding each day, you’re not losing your hair!

One final thought: your hair seems pretty good and you’re on a good regime to regrow/maintain. You’re doing all you can. So try enjoying your hair rather than worrying about it!
