Dr. Lindsey 2500 graft crown case at 9 months
This fellow noted significant thinning of his crown despite medical therapy and comes from a line of men who all lose about a softball size area of hair in their crown. He had a number of consultations and in particular we discussed the size of the area to be treated. Based on family history and progressive miniturization of, but not yet loss of, crown hair despite medicines, we opted for a bit larger case than would be suggested by his preop picture.
While I am not a fan of "prophyllactic" hair surgery, I do think that an informed patient with miniturization despite medical therapy, who wants to address areas still with hair(albeit finer hair) with one surgery, rather than having to have a second case in a few years, can proceed. The key is having an informed discussion of the options before committing to that plan.
Shown are periop and 9 month pics, with and without flash, and his central scarline. He's only intermittently in our area, but may make it back at the 1 year point to see if there is any more thickening in what is already a nice result. Plus this hair hopefully extends to hair that hasn't fallen out in his other male relatives.
