Default 21 and losing hair. Thinking about HT

I first noticed I was losing my hair right before last summer. It has taken a huge toll since then and I was thinking about getting a HT for my receding hairline plus to thicken the top a little bit.

I know about rogaine foam and I would love to try that, but having the really bad shed for 3 to 4 months is what turns me away. Especially since I am in college and dont want bald patches all over my head for date parties and etc. I also know about propecia and the only thing that worries me there is the gyno part. I took supplements back in high school for wrestling and got gyno a year later and had to have it removed, so my fear is that it could easily come back.

I'm also wondering what would my hair look like if I buzzed it very short and tried rogaine then? I have read a lot of stories about people having great HTs, but there are a lot that say they don't. Here are current pictures that were taken today. I will post later today when my hair is wet to show how thin, I was once a guy with the thickest hair out of all of my friends

The only way to know what you would look like with head shaved is to go for it. Some people are pleasently suprised and actually like it, while others realize that the shape of their scalp is unusual and looks better with hair. You could always let the hair grow back and then consider having a hair transplant.

My husband's older than you, but his receding hairline is actually causing problems for both of us. He's getting so depressed about it. He shaved his head just so it won't be too noticeable.

My question for you is: how are you dealing with it? does it make you feel depressed too? I'm looking for ways to help my husband. I'm thinking perhaps its because the depression is because of midlife crisis but I can't be too sure.
