Generic dutasteride tested at a lab / No results since 2013

I paid for a lab to check the dutas that I buy from Canada and compare to generic dutasteride that I now buy from CVS via a paid for prescription. The results are that the one from Canada (likely manufactured in India etc...) is in fact dutasteride.

I was worried that maybe it was fake... although I've received different versions over the years from Canada... I was also worried to take the generic from CVS - if it was in fact different, I may see a shed that I'm not prepared for.

So, it seems I've likely been taking real dutasteride since 2013. I take it roughly every other day, .05 mg while I continue to take daily finasteride. Just could not give up finasteride...

Never had a massive shed from adding dutas, but also nothing really happened. I continued with the slow loss of hair like I have with finasteride. Now at age 41 I'm getting to a point after 20 years where my hairline is really bothering me.

Why would dutasteride do nothing? I thought it was finasteride on steroids. Anyone else see notthing? No shed no gains, no stopping etc...?

Hey Matt, I’m in the same situation where I am thinking about adding one dutasteride weekly to daily finasteride. Has this helped you at all?

Not really sure - I mainly have taken it every other day .05. From Canada.

Apparently it has been real Dutas since I got It analyzed.

      Just continual slow loss.

I guess I’m luck it didn’t destroy my hairline overnight as I’ve read it has done with others.

I don’t think once a week will do much but it’s worth a try. If it slows things down.

To be clear I have no clue if it or anything has caused regrow the elsewhere - I only obsess about my hairline gradually changing About A half an inch or more since I was 18 (I’m 41 now)

I have long hair so an inch back really can start to suck. I use concealer and at the very front middle it’s getting thinner and a big problem for me. The sides of the hairline seem to be maintaining.

For me, that’s not enough and I may have to shave It all off at some point.

Have you considered adding topical finasteride to your hairline?

Add a topical anti-androgen, like Spiro or RU.
