    Default graft hair

I am exactly four weeks post op today, and still have all of my graft hair. Is it okay that it has not shed?

Yeah it's completely normal mate, the graft is lodged in the skin and will shed when the new hair growth pushes it out from underneath. Or it will just start growing in the burst of growth at 3-4 months. Some can even take a couple of months longer. Good luck

    Default Thanks!

Thanks for your reply! I am obsessing about this and driving myself crazy. Oh, and I am female (not a mate, and hopefully will look super cute again when my pulled out patch has grown in;-)
Thanks again and have a great day!

I have had of a few isolated cases where a almost all of the patients transplanted hairs did not fall out and just started growing right away. I also have had many patients who called me 3-4 weeks after the procedure with a similar story to yours and then called me back a few weeks later and said most of the grafted hairs fell out. So stay positive, but do not be to suprised if you have some delayed fallout. Always better to be prepared that caught of guard.

Thanks for your reply Dr. Charles. Just to clarify, is it okay that the grafts have not fallen out yet? The fact that they haven't fallen out concerns me. I can definitely feel the hair and can see small hair (although from a distance you can't really see anything). I am just concerned that this is not normal and will ruin the new hairs trying to come in.

This should have no bearing on the new grafted hairs. Some of the hairs fall out right away and some stay in for a little longer and then fall out in a delayed fashion. Just be patient and things will work out in due time. Good luck.
