Default 31 year old looking for advice

    Hi everyone,

I’m 31 years old and based in the UK. I’ve had quite a high hairline and receding temples since around the age of 25 and recently I’ve noticed thinning on the crown.

Really don’t want this to get any worse so have started taking fin and am seriously considering a hair transplant, mainly to fill in the temples and restore some of the crown.

Does anyone have any advice on measures to take? What results can I expect from fin? Is a HT the right option? Are there any other things I can be doing?

    I’ve also attached some photos.

    Thanks in advance

Finasteride is a viable option and worth considering. The biggest concern there is in regards to side effects, but the only way to know if you'll experience them is to take the medication. Most guys take it with no problem at all. Some guys have varying degrees of sides from "manageable" to "catastrophic" (with the catastrophic being the exception, for what it's worth.) I took it for a few years and stopped due to mild sides. Essentially I had to choose between A) Slowing down my hair loss and weaker erections/libido and B) Not slowing down my hair loss but with stronger erections/libido. I chose my erections/libido.

As for the HT, you seem like you'd be a good candidate based on the photos alone. Do lots of research, get consultations with 2-3 of your top choices, ask lots of questions, and make a well-informed decision. Dr. Farjo in London is fantastic and has a really great track record.

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My opinions/comments are my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.

Same. I used fin for about 8-10 years? And the last year sides caught up and I decided to stop taking fin to get back to normal. My hair quickly fell out. Fin is good to prolong but the sides will catch up at some point.
