Scar repair is different that basic hair transplantation. Make sure that you see some examples of "typical" scars, not just the best 3 or 4, when you are there for a consultation.

His estimates on what he could do weren't as good as I'd hoped, and he said a lot would be determined on the day of the procedure once he got to work on it.

He seems to be the only HT doctor in this area with a decent reputation so my options seem limited. He may be able to do a very good job, but I wish I had at least a second opinion to ensure I'm making the most informed decision. It would be difficult for me to get down to Manhattan, but if there is a chance for much better workmanship, then I might have to consider it.
    Alan,

Who was and is the doctor you are referring to if you don't mind my asking...also feel free to call me direct if you want to discuss this in confidential terms. Just e-mail me privately and I'll get you my direct number.

Alan, if you want the best work done, please be willing to travel. If not to NYC, then to another city where you can get top-notch work done by a top-notch surgeon.

Be willing to fly somewhere. A lot of people do it, especially for repairs.
