Am I screwed? What to do...
I'm 28
Had this problem for a few years but it seems to have got a bit worse recently
I do take medication for an underactive thryoid
What type of balding is this? What can I do about it? Is this a shave job?
Ideally I want to grow hair to shoulder length (haven't had a hair cut in about 3.5 months). In fact I think it's looking worse because I haven't had a cut in a while.
Some photos were fairly short after I showered, washed and conditioned hair.
Thanks for the help

Thyroid issues and DUPA (see definition) https://www.hairtransplantmentor.com...alopecia-dupa/
usually go hand in hand but what you're specifically pointing to looks like typical MPB and thinning of the crown. The DUPA I referenced means that as you grow your hair longer, it will seem thinner due to the lack of volume. There are also varying sweet spots for length as you grow your hair out so sometimes it will look better than others, but basically your hair loss and thin hair all over may not let you accomplish your goals to your satisfaction. Consider finasteride after speaking with your doctor.

Thank you for your response Joe!
I just looked up Finasteride and the side effects look really scary! I'd rather shave my hair off than get prostate cancer! The side effects scare me, is it a much more powerful version of 'Rogaine' (never tried this either)?

You didn't find a side effect of having prostate cancer. You read it wrong, but most people do. Long story short, millions of men take the medication and not one reported case that I'm aware of where prostate cancer was observed because of finasteride. Not one. Finasteride and Rogaine (minoxidil) are completely separate medications where minox was originally a blood pressure medication. Take your time on this, because there is a lot to digest.
