    Hey everyone, 8.5 months

I'm really disappointed so far. Very low density. when i comb my hair up ( like the pics) everyone can see the scalp.

I have contacted the clinic about it. they are very nice, and only saying things will improve until 18 months. I can't see any difference between month 6 and now.

luckily I comb my hair down and that way it doesn't look sparse and thin.

I still hope things will improve, but I know that from 8.5-12 the odds of that are low.

Unfortunately the clinic will regard my request only after 18 months.

If you look at where you’ve come from the temple areas were completely bald. All the hair you have there is transplanted. Following your progression, to me, your hair looks great. I see what you mean about it being a little sparse, although I recall seeing multiple threads where people reached as far as 9/10 months thinking that was as good as it gets, yet it ends up continuing to thicken up and give better coverage.

If it still bothers you, why not try using some hair fibres until you’ve reached 12-18 months and have a better idea of your final result?

As I mentioned before my hair appears to be heading in a similar direction to yours pre-op. If I was in your shoes at your age, I think I’d be relatively satisfied with your result so far.

A few notes to mention. First, the images aren't very large so it is very difficult to see exactly what is going on.

Second, when you have a hair transplant, it is quite rare to pull off every hairstyle you want without any weakness getting through. Any semblance of high density is usually an illusion created through strategic and thoughtful planning and execution of the procedure based on a particular set of goals in mind. In other words, you're not getting a full head of hair, so it isn't going to act like a full head of hair. You have to accept compromises and find the styles that work best given the circumstances.

Finally, the angles that appear thinner in your photos is the same as taking a picture of a forest from the road then taking a photo of the same forest overhead from a drone or a helicopter. You'll be able to see in between each tree in the forest down to the ground it grows from. THe photos that show thinner hair is the exact same scenario.

Oh, and you should always include images from before your procedure for a fair comparison. It is best to use the photos the clinic gave you when you were there.

    hey Joe,

You are right. I'm not looking for full hair. I know my limits. I just want enough density for me to style my hair up and not down. because I understand that hairstyle is everything i comb it down and it looks great that way (that is why i don't use fiber and such).

but now it is thin even for a transplanted hair. and i'm very limited with the hairstyle.

there is no doubt that in compared to where i have started, the hair looks great. you can see pics in the beginning of the thread

but the trees in my forest have lots of space between them

    you can see

Sorry, I didn't notice this was a longer thread. I went back to look at your before images and I see the issue much more clearly now. There is a simple reason behind your concerns. You simply didn't have enough hair transplanted. When I look at the outline of the placement and then the immediate postoperative photo it is clear to me that 4329 grafts simply wasn't enough hair for your particular goals. Your temple points alone most likely constitute 1000 grafts used, which when subtracted from the overall graft count makes the # of grafts placed into the frontal zone only 3329 grafts. My gut tells met that your temple points have more than 1000 combined, but this is a safe # for reference.

When I look at the image below, and ignore the temple points, you are left with a large area remaining. Your hairline was lowered in the center, over 1cm from your forelock and the sides of your hairline into the temple was squared off. 3329 grafts is not enough for this massive area. Even keeping the hairline at the start of your forelock and building in slight recession would have made a big difference in your final density so, in the end, I think that the graft count was not sufficient for the aggressive design that was followed. You simply need more hair to get what you're after.

I think 3K+ grafts is a lot and should provide good cover.

the hairline (1 cm) was transplanted in more density than other areas.

I believe a lot of grafts did not survive. I know because the density in the hairline was the same throughout the hairline (1CM), but in the middle of the hairline, it is thinner than the sides of the hairline (see in the pics above). if all the grafts survived the density should be the same and even.

there also spots where the hair is thinner, that shouldn't happen, it should be even. it happens if some grafts did not survive in than specific area.

by the way, this how I normally go. when I comb it down the looks great and full, but i'm limited to that hair style:

I have similar hairline to yourself, receding badly but not as much as yours, i dont think it looks that bad, being dark hair also makes the skins stand out worse imo. Have you spoke to surgeon, can they arrange a top up in the area that need it?

    What happened in the end?

Hey & sorry for the late update.

I am not happy with HT density (it's 18 months now). i have talked to the clinic and scheduled for a second HT in the 7.9 (in 2 weeks).

    i'll keep you guys posted.

2 photos with the hair up - you can clearly see the poor density

2 photos with the hair down - which is ok and looks good.

    i'll keep you posted.
