Mad Scientist Haircut (2.5 month finasteride/nizoral sanity check)
Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster. Thanks for all the info on these forums -it's been super helpful.
I just turned 32, and have been dealing with slow but steady hairloss since I've been about 27. I have no illusions of getting back to 'full coverage', and am honestly pretty OK with it, as I think the mad scientist/punk rock comb over (sort of) works for me (I'm an electronic composer and media artist lol).
With that being said, I would like to get things under wraps, and hopefully better than it is currently, as its starting to get pretty out of control, which is a bummer.
I've been taking generic finasteride for about 2.5 months, and using Nizoral every few days -- I've noticed some increased/accelerated thinning since starting, but it seems like that might be expected at this stage? With Nizoral, it seems to make my hair appear a bit thinner after washing, but then the following day seems to 'puff' out a bit.
I'm hoping to stay away from minox, as I travel a lot and don't know that it would be easy to use with my long/unruly (remaining) hair, but was hoping for a bit of a sanity check:
Should I stay the course with fin/niz and hope for some small improvements? Am I too far gone? In minox an absolute must at this point? Any other considerations or similar case studies/success stories?
thanks a ton + all best!
