    25, am I going bald?

Hey all, so I recently had someone mention that my hair looked as if it might be thinning near the crown and so I decided take a proper look myself and it seems like I’m missing a lot in that area. I’ve always had very thin hair but this just seems excessive and I’m a bit worried about it. I just wanted to get some opinions from others as well on what they think and, if it is happening, what steps I can take to combat it.

Haha no offense taken. To be fair, the attached two photos are my hair normally not all greasy like in the first 4.

I also never paid attention to my hair much since nobody on my mother nor fathers sides has gone bald in at least the last 100 years (pictures only go back until 1900ish).

Should I head to a doctor and ask them what options I have? As I’ve said, my hair has always been ridiculously thin but this definitely doesn’t seem normal

Yeah if you’re concerned about keeping your hair I’d see a derm or a hair specialist. They can do a biopsy to confirm male pattern baldness. You can also do a test yourself, just look at your scalp or a collection of shed hairs and try to determine if any of the hairs are “miniaturized”. That is - smaller in diameter, whispier or lighter in color. NOT shorter in length.

In terms of your treatment options, they’re just as shitty as they were 20 years ago. Generally speaking, what’s gone is gone and the best you can realistically hope for is maintaining your existing hair.

I’d lurk this forum in the sections related to treatments. Also start educating yourself on the nuances of hair transplant surgery, as that is going to be the end-zone of most of us balding dude’s game.

        Best of luck
