Can anyone help with fertility, varicocele and Finasteride

Hi,

I'm currently 23 and considering starting the use of finasteride. I've noticed over the past two years some recession at my temples to the point that it's bothering me and I want to do something about it. From a family standpoint, my father and uncle both have a full head of hair in their 60's with some crown thinning, meanwhile my mum's father was bald by his early thirties. My oldest brother has no recession at 27, meanwhile the middle brother at 25 has a Norwood 3 and has started the use of finasteride for about four months now with no problems. I'd like to get out in front against this so was contemplating the start of finasteride, my brother also recommended it to me. My only problem is that I'm only 23 and don't plan on having children until my early thirties. This could possibly mean 9 years or so on the drug until I try to conceive a child. I have a small varicocele on my left testicle which hasn't been formally diagnosed as the GP said it could be so small that I don't notice the effects of it. However on occasion I have noticed it and know it can be linked to lower sperm counts. What scares me the most about this drug is the possible implications it could have on my fertility ten years down the line, however going bald in my twenties also terrifies me. I've tried to speak to my GP and had an online consultation with the Belgravia centre, both did little to talk about the effects and my GP was generally very dismissive of starting the drug whereas the Belgravia centre just wanted to sell me products at an extortionate price.

I was wondering if anyone has some advice on the situation or knows who a professional that I can talk to about this issue. Unfortunately due to where I live (Rural Scotland), I've struggled to find reputable places to talk to.

I've given SPEX an email using the service through his website if he could advise me on the situation but have yet to receive a reply, I appreciate he's probably a very busy person. I've also attached three photo's of my hair, I don't think the crown is an issue at the moment but certainly a receding hairline, more so on one side than the other i think.
