My Story - "system" aka Wig for 20+ years

Hello All,

I started losing my hair in my early 20's but that was back in 1994/95. Anyway, at that time, the shaved look was not in and I was single so I did the only thing I could and got a hairpiece..cut to 20 years later I am still wearing it BUT I am tired of it. It looks good but there is a lot of maintenance and costs..while I can live with that it is also restrictive. I can't get wet in a pool or other such sports activities. I am 48 now, been married 20+ years. As I get older I am more concerned about being fit and healthy. I have started telling my close friends so they aren't shocked but am still not there to take it off. Also, it may be silly and just my perception but I am a Director Of IT at work and I feel like people will laugh at me (behind my back) and my staff will lose respect for me if I just show up with a bald head.

I am a NW6 so from what I have read so far, I am likely a better candidate for FUT not FUE. I am not thrilled about the possibility of living with a scar. I found Joe Tillman's videos and his hair looks AWESOME! Then I found the centers in Turkey and reading through these forums and Joe's video obviously has me cautious so I am seriously considering SMP. I mean I see a lot of SMP treatments of scars. I mean if you were going to get SMP anyway why not just do it in the first place?? Maybe some failed HT's not sure. Then I saw how Jonanthan Gerow got FUE with his SMP so I now I was also considering that BC I am a NW6.

Reading all this info is information overload and sometimes I think I should take the plunge and shave it, be done with it and move on. My wife is not in favour of any HT's or SMP.

Interested in your opinions BC one thing I know for sure is that I am so done with these hair systems! I don't want to be 50+ with a wig like Tony Curtis or Burt Reynolds..
