I think it's hard to come up with a "best" doctor pretty much anywhere, but there are definitely those who have been around longer than others and have really established a reputation of providing consistent, solid results. There's no "one size fits all" surgeon out there, so choosing who to go with involves lots of research, getting consultations with around 3 of your top choices, and then ultimately listening to your gut about who you feel the most comfortable with.
Look into Dr. Mohebi in Los Angeles as a starting point. He did my procedure about 4 years ago and I've since come on board as his patient advocate. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have and to help you make sense of what can be an overwhelming task of trying to find the surgeon that's right for you.

Thanks for the information. As you probably know it's pretty chaotic trying to figure this stuff out. The two doctors I've met with both thought I should use the Fut method. I met with Dr. Diep (who everyone really loves and his work looks great) but something about him felt strange. Like he was going through the motions. I met with another guy that I really liked who had gotten good reviews. But there is not a lot of info I can find out about him Tom Rosanelli - both in Northern California.
