I washed my hair a few days ago and excessive strands of hair being washed away or covering my hands. I have always had healthy hair that never fell more than 5-10 a day. I have been using excessive hair spray with alcohol content for styling my heavy hair and do not wash my hair more than once in 10 days. I dont understand what is happening to my hair. I am just 22 and this sudden loss of hair and these bald patches are freaking me out!!
They are precisely at the front where I part my hair and one at the crown.
Someone please tell me what is wrong and how can I cure it!

    1. Loss of up to 100 hairs a day, is normal.

    2. Not washing your hair for 10 days, at a time, is just GROSS. Some of the hair you may see is the accumulation of 10 days of hair (1000).

    3. Alcohol can dry out the hairs that are growing out of your head, but not cause hair loss.

    4. If you believe you are losing your hair, and at 22, it's quite possible... see a doctor.

      Hii BaldBeard!

I know it may seem gross to most but the problem of hair loss is genetical in my mother's side of my family. I have always been scared of losing hair and washing them just made me feel they would lose more.

Do you think from the picture I provided that I have any evident hair loss?
The hair spray I used was extra hard and would make my hair tangle around each other so everytime I brushed them they just got pulled.
Do you think maybe the pulling of hair made the hair loss evident and not MPB?

**I have stopped using the Hairspray

        1. Hair loss genetics can come from either side.

        2. Washing your hair does not cause hair loss. Not washing your hair, can lead to a buildup of dandruff, oils, etc and can potentially have a negative effect on hair health.

        3. Yes, it looks like you have some thinning, from the photo you posted. And no, it does not appear to be traction alopecia (hair loss from pulling).

Again, see a doctor to be sure!

You hair started to fall out. It's not a big problem now, but if you will not treat this, it will be a big problem for you. I recommended to read more about Low Level Laser Therapy treatment - http://grivamax.com/

            Thanks for replying!!

I will consult a doctor and make sure if I do have a condition and what can I do for it! 😊

**Update : Ever since I first found out the extreme loss of hair I have not been using any hair products at all.
I brush my hands daily through my hair and gently pull at them from different sides. 3-4 strands of hair came out when I pulled really hard. I also washed my hair today and my hands did not fill with hair. Their was hairloss, but I wouldnt say they were any more than 10-15.
Maybe its just me hoping really hard to not go bald.

It's ok to wash your hair every couple of days and use a tiny bit of shampoo. The issue is, not to let it get greasy and nasty, and keep dandruff at bay.

You should be using a good VENT brush to brush your hair, and NOT your hands, and you will be more likely to pull hair out.

Are you dying your hair? It looks like you have lots of white hair.

Strands of hair covering your hands or coming out in huge blocks is not normal. Are you under stress? anything going on in your life that is putting you under a lot of pressure? Sometimes you don't even realize it. You hear the jokes, but prolonged stress or worry can cause hair loss.

Or you could just be getting your adult hairline. 21 or 22 is about right. Some get it a little earlier.

I'd monitor the situation and maybe use minox. Do your research but you basically have two options at this point: 1). Do nothing and wait. 2). Go on meds.

The meds option has several choices so make sure you fully understand what you're getting in to before jumping in.

If you're concerned about the scalp showing a little at the crown, etc (which does not look bad by the way), perhaps a cover product would shore up your confidence. A tiny blast of pro-thik would do in a suitable color...
