Long term hair loss - Propecia and Regaine?

I’m 44 and started losing my hair at the crown aged 20. By my mid to late 20s my hair was pretty much gone on top other than some fine wisps. All this time I’ve kept it closely shaved. Think Patrick Stewart but with a bit more at the back and sides.

For years I just left things as they were mainly because I couldn’t afford any sort of surgery and even the drugs were out of my reach financially.

Recently I’ve wondered if it’s now worth at least having a try of something. Firstly I’m not interested in having long flowing locks etc. A hair transplant is out of the question too. Partially the cost and also I don’t have enough remaining hair on top to make it feasible. Wigs (whether synthetic or advanced etc) wouldn’t work either as the change in my look would be just too drastic.

I know it’s unlikely/impossible to get a full head of hair again so what I guess I’m aiming for is to just look “bald, just less bald” if that makes sense.

So that leaves me with drugs. The only realistic options available to me are Propecia and Regaine.

So my question is whether taking them together is likely to give any sort of results given how long I’ve been bald for. I’m aware of the side effects of both and that any results would be slow over several months.

    Cheers
