I'm a 26 year old white male who has always had thick hair. I've always had bangs due to my naturally high hairline and big forehead and therefore never kept a close eye on my hairline, so recently when I pulled them up and looked my hairline I began to get worried about whether I am starting to show signs of male pattern baldness.
Some context: I have always had a high hairline and a big forehead. My father is in his 60's and not bald, and my mom's father has a significantly receded hairline but is not bald.
I have been to a dermatologist and she said that just based upon what I said, I probably have early onset male pattern baldness. But since I told her I am not sure how much it has changed recently I am not convinced that this is simply a maturing hairline. The dermatologist said that she would not recommend finasteride at this point in time but that I should instead start using rogaine in order to maintain my hairline.
The width of my highest forehead wrinkle to the widows peak is 0.5 inches and to the temples it is about 0.75 inches, maybe a bit more. I am not losing clumps of hair when I shampoo/shower but a couple hairs do come out each time.
Since I began worrying about my hairline I've been taking 1000 mcg of biotin once or twice a day, and I've been using a nizoral shampoo twice a week.

I'm experiencing tremendous anxiety over this and don't know whether to start rogaine, ignore it if I'm just paranoid, or simply start shaving my head altogether. I have heard a lot of people online recommending finasteride but I am not sure I want to be taking drugs that could potentially harm my libido/reproductive organs. Please help, and thank you!!
