    Default Thinking about PRP

Skip to the bottom for TLDR

Hey guys, my name is Dolf and I'm a 26 year old male. I know there have been many posts started like this about PRP treatments to combat hair loss but there aren't any that I can see from this year. I'm hoping to get information from both people that have had treatments in the past (before this year) and from people that have had treatments that were more recent. I guess I should provide a little backstory: I began to notice hair thinning about 5 years ago at the age of 21. I didn't start doing anything about it until I was about 23-24 when I began using DHT blocking hair shampoos with little success. Last year I began using Rogaine also with little success. Shortly after, a doctor prescribed me Propecia/Finasteride but I experienced side effects after taking it for about 2 weeks which were not pleasant and at this point in my life, I am not willing go through those side effects for hair growth or maintenance. I possibly could be interested in it later on in my life knowing the effects it has on me... Fast forward to this year, I invested heavily into the iRestore system using the laser helmet, shampoo, DHT blocking pills as well as the growth serum. Currently I use Rogaine every night, hair rush pills from ultrax labs, DHT blocking shampoo and the iRestore helmet. If anything, I believe I have been able to somewhat slow down the hair loss process but still have noticeable thinning areas that I was hoping to get filled in with PRP. I have read many threads on here that were started in the past that have negative posts about PRP. But treatments are different for everyone and not all the posts were negative. Basically I would like some insight as to whether its worth it or not. I'm going in for a consultation this Friday. Anything will help thanks.

TLDR: I'm thinking about undergoing PRP treatments to combat hair loss. I've read many posts on this forum about it and was hoping to get more insight from people that have done it in the past as well as others who have had recent treatments.

    Thumbs up Go for it

It is not that expensive and it seems to stop hair loss in most people, but i'm not sure if it helps in regrowth... I;ve had PRP injections with hair transplant.. they are supposed to boost healing time and growth factors in the scalp... but im not sure about its legitimacy.

If you are going in for a consultation make sure you get lots of before and after pictures of previous patients. The place I contacted couldn't produce any. Also talk to people from the clinic who have had it done and see if you can meet one. I personally would never do it because of the shed risk and no procedure standards in the industry for it.

PRP is a non-surgical option for hair restoration. It uses a compound called platelet-rich plasma which is derived from the patient’s own blood through an extraction and concentration process. There are no risks associated with it. It is natural, safe, fast, and effective. Consult with a specialists, they would be able to suggest if PRP would be the right way to treat your hair problems.

@dolf24 You can read about PRP therapy in detail here: http://hairfreeclinics.com/platelet-...lasma-therapy/

Thank you everyone for the responses. If anyone has information on Dr. Jeffrey Rapaport or can redirect me to a thread on here that has information on his PRP treatments, please let me know. Thanks.

PRP is a concentration of your own autologous platelets which have reservoirs filled with powerful growth factors and healing agents. It is “harvested” from your own blood. This is done by collecting a small volume of your blood and spinning it down to separate the red blood cells from the platelet cells. This resulting PRP is then activated and introduced back under the skin by a series of tiny injections. PRP helps signal your body’s own stem cells and growth cells to jump start the healing, repair, and rejuvenating process.
