Hi everyone.
So apparently I have a bald spot on the top of my head and my hair is getting very thin up top. No one ever mentioned it to me (I’m 6’4” so it might be tough for people to see). Finally someone made a joke saying I’m going bald.
When I took pictures I was horrified. I instantly got a prescription of propecia and I also bought rogaine. I started the propecia two days ago but I’m weary about starting the rogaine because of extra shedding and having to apply it for the rest of my life (I understand propecia is the same).
I’ve attached a few photos in various lighting.
I have a few questions for you veterans.
1) My hairline is fine. But obviously my crown is doing poorly. How bad has it gotten? I’m not sure if I’m overplaying it in my mind but I’m almost embarassed to go outside like this even though everyone I mentioned it to told me they hadn’t noticed until I said something
2) Should I be okay with just starting propecia first without the rogaine?
3) What are the chances the propecia will at least maintain what I have? What about thickening the strands that I do have back there as well?
4) Am I even still early enough to see progress with propecia alone?
5) I know I obviously have mpb but recently I have been incredibly stressed (started about 4 months ago). I actually started seeing a therapist and got prescribed antidepressants a few months ago because of the overwhelming anxiety and depression. Is it possible that the stress cause extra shedding/thinning and can any of those hairs be brought back if so?
