First FUE hairtransplant next Month - restarting Finasterid

    Hey guys,

I hope this question is okay here.

    A bit of history.

I'm 27 years old and started thinning and balding hard on the temples between age 22 till now. I took Finasterid for 1 year (1mg a day, I cut the 5mg in 5 pieces) and used it between age 25/26. I think at the start I had worse hair for about 3-4 months and after it started to go back to "normal". I don't think I had any side effects that I know. I had some girls at that time and sex was normal I think.

Now, I will have hair transplant 2700 Grafts FUE next month on June.
I dont really want to restart Finasterid for the reason I dont like to get reminded of having a hair problem each day but I guess I have to.

The hairdoc said if I didn't had sides I should restart it.

The question here is, since its already mid Mai, does it make sense to restart it now or will that get problems somehow with my hair transplant on June 20 next month? 1mg a day like normal or start with less?

    Thanks very much!

This is more a question for your doctor, but I started taking finasteride for the first time just a few weeks before my procedure and everything was fine. If you didn't' experience sides, I don't see why you couldn't go ahead and start taking it now. You'll have a full month of the medication under your belt by the time the procedure comes along.

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My opinions/comments are my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.
