Dr Rahal 2800 FUT grafts - 30th Jan 2018
Hey all,
Been on and off here for years so thought I'd share my experience.
Had surgery end of Jan which was my second procedure into hairline. You can see from the pics I got some coverage but really the density wasn't cutting it for me - it looked quite unnatural playing sports or in wet/windy weather. So the aim was to fill in what was already there at and behind the hairline as well as frame my face with new temple points. I've been on finasteride for ten years so far and been stable as far as I can tell. My donor area is okay, I've at least got another FUT and FUE in me if needed down the line.
I was staying in the Rahal guest house which is so convenient being next door to the clinic. Easy to go in for a wash every day post op and get reassurance of the early day progress whilst I was in Canada.
Surgery itself was a painless process, albeit tiring after all the sedative. I was in the chair 9.5 hours overall including a small lunch break.
I'm approaching 1 month post op now and have shed a fair amount of the grafts. Aiming to update with pics as I go along.
Attached some pre and post op pics aswell as some two week so far. Happy to hear any feedback or answer questions.
Breakdown of numbers for those interested:
Single hairs = 277
Double hairs = 1806
Triple hairs = 611
Quadruple hairs = 109
Total grafts = 2803
Total hairs = 6158
Average hair per graft = 2.1
Recipient area = 60cm2
Recipient graft density approx 46/cm2 on top of existing (hopefully 70 plus when it grows in)

That hairline together with the temple point reconstruction will frame your face nicely. I can see an incredible result in your future!

It looks good! Are you still feeling pain from the donor area? I`m considering FUT as well (not sure yet). Could you also share the price per graft pls

Cheers Euge.
No pain but it still feels a bit numb and fragile, which is all normal although it's definitely a commitment. I had FUE first time around and FUT is definitely a bit heavier on the recovery for obvious reasons. I had to go FUT this time as I wanted to preserve as much donor as possible. $5 CAD per graft then $3 CAD over 2500 grafts
