Default 26 - Intro, any Help/info/comments, greatly appreciated!

Alright well here is my story. At about 19 years old I noticed that my hair line was receding slightly, I used minoxidil inconsistently and did not notice a change either good or bad. For the next 4 or 5 years my hair generally stayed the same, or at least that I could tell. When I was 24 I had a lot of stressful things going on in my life and was greatly overwhelmed and stressed out. At the same time for some reason I decided to buzz my hair down to a #1, which looked ok but I found I preferred it a bit longer. Anyways when it started growing out I noticed it was thinning all over, especially the front and the crown area. So now on top of being stressed about numerous other things now my thinning hair was getting to me. I went to a doctor and got a check up to make sure that my thinning hair was not due to my health, and turned out I was extremely healthy. So more then likely the thinning hair was caused by stress. So I removed all the stressors in my life, started taking vitamins, including saw palmetto, biotin, and zinc. I also was using 5% minoxidil and emu oil, alternating every other night. A few months later a lot of my hair regrew and was slowly improving. (I did not try Fin due to the possible side effects, I lead a very healthy lifestyle, and that I thought the hair loss was due to stress). As of the last few months my hair is thinning once again, more so in the front but overall thinner all over the top. I keep my same routine for the past year (except adding in crudoleum shampoo once or twice a week) when hair was regrowing. I also have a low stress life and am very healthy and active. I am really getting discouraged that my hair was growing back and again, almost in a few months time is rapidly thinning again. Does anyone have any ideas why, or what I should do or no do? I am just shocked how rapidly things have reversed. Any information would be extremely helpful, thank you.

Although stress can certainly cause hair loss in some people, the most common cause of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, or male pattern baldness. Hair loss attributed to stress will usually occur about 3 months after a stressful event and it may take another 3 months after the stress period has ended for the hair growth to resume. Hair loss caused by stress is usually temporary but, if an individual is predisposed to genetic hair loss, the stress may simply trigger the onset of MPB.

Do you have a family history of hair loss? If so, it is quite possible you are experiencing MPB. Either way, you may want to consult with a dermatologist or hair loss specialist to see what they think is the most likely cause of your hair loss/thinning. If a physician confirms that you are indeed experiencing MPB, there are a number of medical therapies you can try to stop (or at least slow down) the loss of your existing hair.

My Dad is losing his hair, not very bad for his age 61, he started thinning in his 40's. The biggest question I have is that after the stress was out of my life a high percentage of my hair grew back and now a few months later its thinning again. I just wonder why it as happened so quickly both times?
