When you buy cheap from China, the hair they use is often plughole or sink hair from hundreds of different people. To keep costs down further they do not properly sort root from tip or cuticles are seldom in the right direction and that leads to tangles. Of course, the longer the hair the more likely it is to tangle but as a wearer we can minimise it
My supplier does full caps and I am sure they are under $800. The toppers I use last 12-months and I assume the full caps would be similar. I have gone up to 10 inch hair without problems. Let me know if you want their details.

...ehhm...you're kidding?
About the different directions I could really understand it... though: Isn't it a "strategical" problem anyway that cuticles of a each single hair knotted in the middle would always tangle with itsself, as one half of the hair having the cuticle inwards, the other half outwards the hairpiece?
About you supplier, I'd appreciate your info. I you may not post it publicly, I'm happy if you send my a PN

Hopefully he IS kidding! This is pure nonsense. I suppose we are supposed to believe that China's suppliers go door to door a billion times (population of China over 1 billion) cleaning out peoples drains. Really? Hair is readily available and cheap. Recycling drain hair would be cost prohibitive. Plus......the statement ignores the fact that the increasing labor costs in China have forced many Chinese manufacturers to now outsource production to Vietnam and Cambodia (and perhaps other countries). The hairpieces may go through China, but, one should not assume they are made in China.
You are quite correct regarding the direction of cuticles during ventilation. A single strand of hair produces "two" hairs from the knot. The cuticles thus run in opposite direction. I have been ventilating for over 8 years. Would love someone to show me how to keep the cuticles in sync. It is really a moot issue anyway because during the processing of the hair prior to coloring the cuticles are stripped from the hair.

No. I am not kidding. I'm as serious as a heart attack
Unsorted hair plug and comb hair. If there's money to be made, I am sure the Chinese and others are industrious enough to systemise it over the years.

Yes it is being outsourced to wider countries including North Korea!

@ LongHairGuy
It is important to use a reputable company sourcing quality hair ethically.
For the last few years I have used

On first sight, this looked a lot like conspiracy theory to me - for all the reasons lvlace pointed out. However - and as a foreigner, I'm not quite sure about it - BBC always sounded like a reliable source to me. Is that wrong?
If one of their journalists has made an extensive recherche, would the BBC publish it if it was all made-up phantasy? Really makes me wonder... :/
Thanks for the UK link by the way, I'll check it...

BBC have resources to research, check and write.
