    Depends on certain reasons like:

Have a family history of the condition
    Have another autoimmune disease
    Are prone to allergies
    Have extensive hair loss.

There is a genetic predisposition to alopecia areata and close family members may be affected. Thyroid problems or diabetes are also more common.
