Default Do you use the ceramic curling iron? Is it really safe for hair?

Hello, everybody. I am a Newbie here. I remember that since childhood, I've had very thin hair. My ears(though, I have really small ones) were always seen under my hair.
Lately, I've lost the 4th part of what I had had. I feel, how noticeable it is. And whenever I go I feel so confused and want to disappear. I understand I have just to get used to it. I have just to accept myself.
Now I need something to improve the situation at least a bit. It seems to me, curls may give some volume to my hair. Has anyone used ceramic curling irons? I've read ceramic curling iron for fine hair is safe and gentle. Because I am afraid of losing more hair after using such device.
