Receding hairline, 25 yo

Hey guys,

I wanted to grow my hair to the long hair status. Apparently genetics got in the way. So how bad is hair receding and more imp how awfull will it look once it grows longer.

In another words should I change my goal and trim my hair or stick to it for a bit longer.
