My complete experience with finasteride + minoxidil

Hi all,

On April 2011, I started taking finasteride ~1.25mg = 1/4th Proscar daily. At the time, my crown was almost gone and I had started having bald spots on top of my head. By December 2012, I had full head of hair, literally like when I was a teenager!!! Though, I had minor libido decrease. After hearing about the possible long-run side effects of the drug, I decided to replace it with minoxidil. And, for a year after, i retained my hair. However, starting Jan 2014, my hair started to fall but not to an alarming rate. Fast forward 3.5 years on minoxidil, and I ended up exactly where I was on April 2011. So, I started taking finasteride 0.5 mg daily in July 2017 in addition to the routine minoxidil.

As of today, I have yet to see any difference; thought it’s kind if too early. Also I have not experienced any side effects whatsoever.

Last week I started adding 5% Azelaic Acid to my minoxidil and used it for a week. It made my hair and scalp dry as a piece of wood. Also, I believe that my hair falling increased. So, I stopped using the Azelaic Acid. The shedding could be due to Finasteride as well.

So, thats my story.
