Default Confused? Born with thinning hair? Thoughts?

    I will keep this short.

Around last winter someone pointed out a bald spot on the back of my head. I had long hair then so I just wrote it off believing it just had to do with the way that my hair was laying or bunching up.

Fast forward a year and my hair is shorter. Things become more noticeable. My hairs look thinner on the top and crown. Not less dense, but what looks like "miniaturized" hairs in that classic horseshoe pattern.

Start to worry and look back through old photos and notice something odd.

I have had super thin hair and a bald spot on the back of my head since at least 2012 (when the kegstand and shopping cart pics were taken). All the other pics were taken today (save for the long hair one which was a few weeks ago).

I recently buzzed my hair to compare, those pics are included as well.

Based on the pattern the more fine hairs on my head make it looks ominous.

I have made a Derm apt for this coming Monday so I'll see what Doc has to say.

Bought some Minox, used it for a few days last week, but decided its best I wait until I see the Dr.

    What do you guys think?

Should I just shut the **** up until it gets worse?

Longer-ish hair shot included as well.

    I'm probably in denial

looks thin when buzzed but completely normal grown out. interesting.

if there has not been much change since 2012 and you thinned that rapidly within a couple weeks then i'm guessing it's hormone or nutrient related. especially since you're a young guy. and the diffuse thinning pattern you display is typical of that. any diffuse thinning is going to be more apparent on the crown because it's already a sparse area (even people with no hair loss show scalp through their crown) so that's the only place an average person would spot hair loss.

if possible, have the derm order blood tests for thyroid, ferritin, vitamin d, protein, or anything that might cause hair issues.

Thank you for your input. I'll be sure to ask the derm. The shape is what concerns me. Almost perfect horseshoe shape. Perhaps it's just snail-paced MPB.
