    Minoxidil Effectiveness

Has anyone seen any real results from minoxidil?

on webmd it says results from minoxidil have been disappointing since its release and approval from the FDA

anyone swear by this stuff or have really effective thickening?

i'm currently only on generic finasteride 1.25 a day for 7 months and havent seen any thickening

Have not used Minoxidil myself, and hear that it is not all that effective, most people gain what are called "vellus hair", which is another word for peach fuzz. I have heard of people having success combining it with Azelaic Acid. Saw Palmetto is probably a better topical, when combined with pumpkin seed oil it can be very effective for some. This is better than minoxidil for "terminal growth" real hair.

I'm pretty sure it has filled in a thin spot on top of my head. But I'm also on propecia. Initially it caused my thin spot to shed more then it started to fill back in. Some of the hairs look thicker than the opposite side of my head where I don't apply it. It's only been four months so time will tell.

        Hi Howard,

In my opinion, the effects of minoxidil are overstated. However, with that being said, I personally have seen some benefits from using Rogaine foam. Groughback is correct as far as growth is concerned. I did have "vellus hairs" growing, but it was nothing cosmetically significant.
