Default I may have jumped the gun

Hi, I'm 27 years old and I've been very keen on getting a hair transplant for the past two years so I've decided to have one at the end of 2017. Flights to Turkey have been booked and I am intending on going to AEK clinic for Dr. Ali Emre Karadeniz's service. I'm committed to having this procedure done, however I want to get a realistic idea of what my expectations should be. I'm worried that I may have jumped the gun because it has only recently occurred to me that I could easily not be a good candidate for this procedure. I would like some advice on how far i can bring my hairline down while conserving enough graphs for those future hair transplants. I'm afraid I will ruin the look of my hair in the future. My family has a history of balding. Also, can you tell me what my father and I are on the Norwood scale?

I have attached pictures of my current state and my father (grey jumper) who is in his late 50s.

I would like to add that I have been taking Minoxidil to reduce the progressive hairloss. I'm not sure about Finasteride at the moment. I hope anyone here can answer my question. That would be very appreciated. I'll be glad to take more pictures as well if needed.

imo you have 0 hair loss. nw1 with a round hair line. i would advise against HT right now.

if you notice thinning then hop on fin. it might save you from the loss your father experienced. right now you do not need it imo.

You shouldn't get a HT to get your 17 years old hairline back, your receding isn't that bad and you are only 27. Cancel it.

NW1? Are you okay mate?? He's definitely a 2 but either way I agree with Louish. Your hairloss isn't even bad. To be honest, at this stage I wouldn't even class it as loss. Right now you're a Norwood 2 which is the norm for your age.. a hair transplant shouldn't be an option unless your at least a Norwood 3. Getting a Norwood 1 back is simply a waste of good donor hair.. you may need it in the future depending on whether you follow your father's pattern.

The effectiveness of Rogaine lasts only for a year or two.

Where did you read that? I have been on it 20 years and still working. I would not get a HT now. Once the hair behind the HT falls out and it will you will look ridiculous and be going back for more surgery.

    Willis90,

Cancel your procedure. You shouldn't be coming here to "get a realistic idea of what your expectations should be" AFTER you've booked your flight and your procedure. You should know this before you booked your flight and procedure so it is obvious that you have no idea what you are getting yourself into. You're doing it wrong. Your loss is mild but it will continue because I see your crown thinning and you're on track to be your Father. Exhaust all non-surgical methods before you consider surgery but don't have surgery now or in the near future.

Turkey? really? that's your first mistake.

    Or rather, your second.

You don't need a hair transplant and you're not a good candidate.

You get this done and you're going to regret it. You're going to be out a whole lot of money, a whole lot of hair, and you'll be back here within a few months, if not earlier, looking for advice on to to "fix" your recent transplant.

But by all means, get on the plane. See what happens.
