    Default Should I be concerned?

I'm 19 and currently developing a 'mature hairline'. My right temple seems to be going through the process a lot faster than the left. My hairline and hair is still thick and solid however, I see a lot of posts stating that a mature hairline before the ages of 20 is a definitive sign of balding/ that you will suffer from an aggressive form of MPB in the future.. Is this correct?

I don't have balding in my family so it's very confusing for me and causing panic. I have very similar hair to my maternal granddad. He's recessed over the years but seems to have maintained thickness throughout. I hope to be following him but the fact I've started receding at a young age (Norwood 2) is telling me I have a long battle with hair loss ahead. Should I consider finasteride as a precautionary measure??

Do you have any way of finding out when your maternal grandad started losing hair?

I've asked him but he couldn't remember. Him and his brother have always had thick hair. They seemed to have only suffered from a receding hairline, widows peak throughout their life.

I think I'm taking after my granddad because my hair is exactly the same colour, texture and thickness as his was. My grandma had curly hair however she had balding present in some males on her side of the family (her brother and father). My hair's straight and dark like my granddads although my mum's is curly so could I have inherited my granddads hair but also the MPB gene from my grandma? Or does it not work like that.. hair loss is a very hard and confusing process for me to understand.
