    Default Acceptance is everything

So balding has been one of the biggest learning experiences of my life. I'm not ashamed to say that in my slightly younger years I was quite a vain young man, as I'm sure is normal when you're a late teen early 20 something.
I started losing my hair very gradually at the age of 18 or so and it always bothered me. My biological father is bald and it used to haunt my nightmares, the thought of having no hair. I used to crop my back and sides really short and push my hair forward over my receded temples. Only recently has the hair loss spread to my crown and started to chuck out hairs there too. It took months of deliberation and google searches of people like Bruce Willis and Jason Statham to and endless hair series of my thinning crown to decide to finally bite that bullet and buzz myself.
As scary as that experience was, when I took a while to look in the mirror and gauge how I felt, I can't really explain the immense feeling of liberation and the weight that felt like it had lifted off of my shoulders. I think guys often get so anxious about whether they're covering their male pattern baldness that they forget to consider that there is a way that they won't have to. Now I am not a naive human being, I know that a shaved head isn't the way for everybody and some people can't get past the way they look without hair. My suggestion is to try it at least once. And if it turns out that you hate it, there are always alternative treatments and methods to overcome MPB. But give shaven a shot. You never know, you might just like it.

    Good for you...

I only wish that at some point, MPB is an "acceptable" hairstyle, also. It's so natural, it's part of what makes us human. Who knows... maybe one day.

I started to thin, in front, at 16. I always had "messy hair" to avoid "looking bald". I buzzed at 28, shaved at 30.

In my 40s, I decided to regrow my hair, no haircut for a year. Then, I caught myself in a security camera, and saw my thinning crown. That was it, shaved again. Now, in my 50s, I can shave it, or grow it a bit... and no one cares. It's just a part of me.

Good for both of you. You know ? I think the fear of going bald is worse than going bald.

Maybe... to be honest, it never really bothered me, I had a TON of other shit going on in my life, baldness was the least of my problems.
