Default 19 and I THINK I'm going bald.

Lets just say that my hair was super dense when I was in 14, but now it's super light, thin, and you can see my white scalp when you part my black hair. I guess I'm going bald, unless theres some sort of "maturing" of the hair where it stays this thin forever. Either way, I'm convinced its going bald and I need some advice. My Mom's dad (my grandfather) was bald.

The thinning is all around, not in patches or on certain parts of the head, but its spread evenly throughout my whole head so theres no "pattern" so to speak.

Like I mentioned, I'm only 19, so I believe there is still hope for me to treat this correctly.

I wanted to just buzz-cut my hair for the duration of my life, but maybe I can keep my relatively long hair.

If you were in my shoes, what would you recommend?

    1. See a doctor to make sure it is male pattern baldness and not something else.
    2. Use finasteride and minoxidil and wait for a cure.

Honestly, if there is no effective cure, then I would rather just let myself go bald. My success in life and my own self esteem isn't affected by something as trivial as hair. I'll go see a doctor to make sure option number 1 is ruled out, since I care for my well being.

    Thanks.

There is no cure, but there are treatments that will help you maintain whatever hair you have left.

Consider that before letting it fall out. Prevention is your best option until there is a cure.

Jook, all you can do is go with the flow, and if you keep your hair fine. If not, there are many options open to you.

From Lotions and potions, to toupees and hair systems.

JooK, you have a great attitude about your hair loss. I agree with [mcr]'s advice that you should first consult a doctor and then look into preventative options if it is indeed MPB- there's no harm in being proactive.

Once you lose your hair there is a good chance you will change your mind.

Use finasteride, minoxidil and a shampoo containing ketoconazole. Speak with your doctor about those 3 vital treatments.

Don't be a fool. Good luck
