Default No cure and no better treatments in our lifetime?

    What do you think?
Is that a distinct possibility? Is it realistic?

    Interesting stuff:

Finasteride was developed under the code name MK-906.[citation needed] In 1992, finasteride (5 mg) was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of BPH, which Merck marketed under the brand name Proscar.[citation needed] In 1997, Merck was successful in obtaining FDA approval for a second indication of finasteride (1 mg) for treatment of MPB, which was marketed under the brand name Propecia.

Minoxidil was developed in the late 1950s by the Upjohn Company (later became part of Pfizer) to treat ulcers. In trials using dogs, the compound did not cure ulcers, but proved to be a powerful vasodilator. Upjohn synthesized over 200 variations of the compound, including the one it developed in 1963 and named minoxidil.[20] These studies resulted in FDA approving minoxidil (with the trade name 'Loniten') in the form of oral tablets to treat high blood pressure in 1979.[21]

Meantime the effect of minoxidil on hair loss prevention was so clear that in the 80's physicians were prescribing Loniten off-label to their balding patients.[21] In August 18, 1988 the FDA finally approved the drug for treating baldness in men[21][25] under the trade name 'Rogaine' (FDA rejected Upjohn's first choice, Regain, as misleading[26]). The agency concluded that although "the product will not work for everyone", 39 percent of the men studied had "moderate to dense hair growth on the crown of the head".[26] In 1991 Upjohn made the product available for women.[25]

It's been too long. You are so right about that.

It's idiotic. Always used to think Histogen would be the answer. Not any more.

Hair transplant surgeons make so much money.

I really doubt a cure will be in the United States.

Not really, "in our lifetime" can be relative. Someone who's 30, maybe has 40-50 years left to live. By the time they're like 70-80 if they get there, they will likely not care about their hair loss. So really a 30 year old person has about 30 years left where they're still going to care a lot about their hair. Can something happen in the next 30 years? Absolutely, I believe something better will come in the next 10 years. But is there a possibility that the best treatments and near-cures run into a lot of roadblocks and even get pushed back or canceled due to some bad side effects? Also yup.

A better treatment/cure not coming out in a 30 year olds lifetime is not something that someone dumb would think of. It's actually very realistic.

The answer is always the same:

There's been a breakthrough! doctors and researchers are working on it right now! Of course, its still in the early stages, but don't worry-- the new, miracle treatment will be available to the public in..... wait for it......

    5 to 7 years.

There you go. The answer you've been looking for. It's always the same.
