my weird diffuse hairloss.
hello everyone
almost 25 years old, noticed recently that my hair is thinner. and looking like it's getting really serious, and started to remember the remarks my friends used to make about my hair 7 years ago, i used to dismiss them saying it's my hair lotion sticking them together so it looks like i'm losing hair on top. so i'm experiencing a slow weird form of hairloss.
went to my doctor, gave me blood tests, i did them and apart from 98 µg/L ferritin (20 < reference < 300 )
everything is normal.
went to a dermatologist and he was in a hurry, after two minutes i found myself out
with a perscription of propecia/minox 5%/silica shampoo. he didn't even look at my blood test.
so is this really a rare form of MPB ?
i just want to mention that i'm a foreign student in france, basically i've been living in hell in the last 3 years, stress, depression etc...
and i recently changed my diet, i no longer eat poltury or red meat.
i'm not shedding anything on the pillow, but recently when i became aware, i'm counting the falling hair in my brush (picture below), it's miniaturised hair.
so this is how my hair looks in the morning when it's greasy from my pillow, and then after brushing.
diffuse thinning all over my head, top, sides, back.

when i brushed, this is what got stuck in the brush :

i know this is most likely androgen related since there is miniaturisation, but is there other causes of miniaturisation besides DHT ?
father is almost 60 years, full head of hair, on the other hand, my mother started losing hair at 40 if i remember.
will finasteride help me ? because this seems like the hairloss that effects women !
i need your opinions please.

I went to the Derm a few years ago as well, and although he did spend a bit of time looking at my hair, he just immediately starting writing me a prescription for Minox. From what I've heard, I don't think they'll do much else.

looks like i have DUPA (diffuse unpatterned alopecia)
like this man http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d133/joehh/9.jpg
which is rare, there is no research on it, and the doctors don't think it's caused by DHT since finasteride don't seem to help that much.
some say it's testosterone related, some people who have it had a mother with hairloss too like my mother.
and the people who suffer from DUPA on the forums never seem to comeback and give updates about their hair situation ! i'm guessing they killed themselves or something ?

You are loosing your hair. But you are NOT willing to do what it takes to see a specialist? You are coming to a website where you are going to be told, my people with NO medical training to go on meds. I would make the effort, and find someone, or forget it and shave it.
