Has anyone done a scalp biopsy?
Hi i'm a 22m,
So my hair has started to thin out a lot on the top (looks like diffuse thinning), not so much on the crown or hairline. My mum has similar hair loss but only in the past few years. My dad has also only started losing hair after he was 50+ and mainly on the crown.
My dermatologist recommended to do some testing (blood test + scalp biopsy) to find a conclusive reason before tackling it.
My question is, who has had a scalp biopsy and does it leave obvious scars? Will it be noticeable if i eventually have to rock the bald look?

Had two last month. They do 4 mm punch biopsies that require a single stitch each. I don't know what the scar will look like, but I am told that 4 mm or smaller is really insignificant in terms of scarring. Biopsy result for me? follicular miniaturization!
