Have some itchy scalp with thinning. Which regiment do you recommend?

I am 38 and though I had maybe a thinning area at the back, in the past few months things have gotten worse. I was typically using Nioxin or similar as a standard shampoo but ran out and was using very cheap shampoo. I think it is obvious that I need to revisit my shampoo.

I bought some Tgel which is coal tar but does not seem to do a thing for itching. I think some of my issue is I scratch....

So I was thinking of getting the Bosley Revive shampoo and supplement with minoxidil after shower? Is there another regiment you recommend? From what I read, many users of Minoxidil experience itching, which probably won't be good.

I would describe my scalp as somewhat oily and there are red blotches when I get out of the shower but they subside quickly. I don't have extensive dandruff I do get a bit at times. I do not have scaling, major flaking, sores, etc.

In general, I am in above average health, about 10lbs over weight, and eat mostly healthy foods but I do dive into chips and such occasionally. I do chew snuff maybe once/day but have been off and on. From what I read, nicotine can cause DHT? Probably a good enough reason to stop that disgusting habit for good.

I was also wondering if there were additional supplements/vitamins that do anything? I used to just take a multi vitamin and usually boost a lot of B vitamins.

Try something that contains ketoconazole, like nizoral.

I used to use minoxidil. The minoxidil/alcohol foam was fine, but the liquid min/PG/alcohol made me itch like crazy. I figured it must be the propylene glycol, or the fact the PG actually pulls the minoxidil through your skin (ie, it actually works. I couldn't help but think the rogaine just ended up with the alcohol evaporating and the minoxidil just ending up as a white power on the scalp that didn't soak in).

To be honest, I shave my head anyway. When it starts itching, I just buzz it and plaster it with E45 or olive oil.

Good multi vitamin = something that's soluble in water. I drink natures way alive liquid multi

If your losing hair I still think propecia is the only chance you have. itching, dandruff... none of that is proven yet to cause hair loss. If your losing hair its MPB causing it

Thank you. Is this a better regiment than using minoxidil? This product seems relatively cheap right now. I have to look at this realistically with my hectic schedule to stay on top of things. Just need something quick and easy that I can adhere to.
