22 years old, sudden change in hair texture (with pictures)

I have been receding at the temples since i was 18 - but not worried and this wasnt a big deal. However, about a year ago I noticed some of my hairs on my hairline looked and felt bent, crooked, kinky and burnt (i havent dyed my hair or anything). I thought this was just some hairs affected by DHT and wasnt too worried about this either. However, since September I have noticed my whole hairline and crown is full of these hairs. Also the general texture of my hair has gone from smooth and curly to dry and bent. Nobody has really noticed because i use hair wax to conceal the individual "weirdness" of my hair follicles and my hair is still thick. I think this texture change is preceding the hair falling out. Ive read about Acquired progressive kinking and Whisker hair - is it possible to have both??
BUT the real confusion here is how the back and sides of my hair are also affected extensively. SO the question is: can DHT affect the back and sides of my head?? Is this possible? The hair on the sides of my head (shown in the pictures) is particularly coarse and pubic. The back of my hair is starting to change and feels more and more like the sides but i cant show this in a picture.

The normal pattern baldness hairs on top are becoming bent and "kinky". The hair on the back and sides is basically pubic....this isnt typical is it? - i dont think there is an unaffected hair on my head
